Disciple

(Luke 6:40) "The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master."

The word Disciple, according to the Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries, is: a learner, that is, pupil. The disciples of Jesus are those whom, He has chosen, to learn everything about Him, then follow Him or, do as He did, and then make disciples from every nation.

He is our King and has chosen us as citizens of his Kingdom. (John 15:16) "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you." Jesus has chosen us to live a perfect life as he did. When we need spiritual help to live that perfect life, all we need to do is ask our Holy Father in Jesus Holy name.

But first we must learn of the Lord Jesus. (Matthew 11:29) "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." Your souls, which Jesus promises rest, is for our hearts and minds. He did not promises us worldly riches nor a life of ease. As a matter of fact, he said that His disciples life here on earth would not be easy, but very hard.

(Luke 6:20-23) "And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets."

We are to put Our Lord Jesus commission above ALL things. That may mean, we may have to leave our families in order to do what our Lord Jesus has ordained us to do. We must give up our own ambitions and deny ourselves.

(Luke 14:26-27) "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple."

There are many, that have been called by our Lord Jesus but refuse to separate themselves from the world. These are the ones Jesus speaks of in the parable of the seed. (Matthew 13:22) "He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful."

This is a warning to those false teachers who make light of their ordination. (Luke 6:24-26) "But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. Woe unto you that are full for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets."

Our Lord Jesus has ordained us to teach those who believe that He is the Messiah, to observe, or obey, ALL things whatsoever He has commanded us. We are to teach Scriptural truths, we are not ordained to entertain the masses nor to teach them how to receive worldly "blessings".

(Matthew 28:19-20) "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

The true disciples of Jesus have forsaken all, devoting their lives to the service of God. They teach the Holy Scriptures, which are the words of our Lord Jesus and the observance of His commandments. Are you a disciple of Jesus?

(Luke 14:33) So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
