Let Your Loins Be Girded about, And Your Lights Burning

If our Lord Jesus returned today, would He find the Christian community ready and waiting for Him? Would they be clothed in white raiment and have their oil filled lamps, burning bright?

(Revelation 3:18) "I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou mayest see."

Or would Jesus find them, as the bridegroom did, in the parable of the wedding feast? (Matthew 22:12-14) "And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen."

And would He find them unprepared as the 5 foolish VIRGINS. (Matthew 25:1-10) "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut."

The white garments and the oil for the lamps are to be purchased by all the followers of our Lord Jesus. These are offered to all who wish to purchase them but they are not free gifts given to any that ask. We have a command from our Lord to go and sell all that we have to purchase these items from Jesus Himself. Jesus has set the price. He said we must forsake ALL. (Luke 14:33) "So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple."

We purchase these items by forsaking All. Our goal is entering the Kingdom of God by the straight and narrow. (Matthew 7:14) "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." It is impossible for any Christian to have one foot in the Kingdom of God and the other in the world. Christian cannot have two masters nor can they be lukewarm.

It's deplorable, the condition, of what the general, so called, Christian community has become. They have become one with the world, wallowing in depraved conduct, such as murdering their children, homosexuality, sex outside of marriage, adultery, disrespectful of parents and all other authorities, not honoring the Sabbath day and idol worshiping just to name a few. Their, prim donna preachers are more concerned about bringing in the money and their superstar image than about their parishioners moral decay. And the parishioners themselves don't want to hear that they're immoral, they're into self gratification and they'll pay generously to have the preacher tickle their ears.

But Jesus promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against HIS church. (Matthew 16:18) "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

There is a small remnant that has prevailed, that has not compromised the gospel of our Lord Jesus and His Kingdom, and we prepare for that glorious day of His coming, everyday.

Do you have the proper attire and is your lamp filled and ready, for the Kingdom of Heaven?

(Ephesians 6:14-17) "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:"
