The Oracles of God(Hebrews 5:12) "For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat." The Oracles of God are the writings of the Old Testament, the sacred Scriptures. (Romans 3:2) "Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God." The reason for the many divisions among the Christian religion is the lack of knowledge of the oracles of God. How can one understand the New Testament without first knowing the Old Testament? The Oracles of God, the Old Testament, are the words about our Savior Jesus. Jesus quoted the Holy Scriptures throughout His time here on earth, more than 2000 years ago. (Mark 12:10) "And have ye not read this Scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:" The Holy Scriptures of the Old Testament is filled with the promise of salvation through our Lord Jesus. The 12 Apostles knew the Holy Scriptures thoroughly. They were taught the scriptures every Sabbath. At home they were taught by their parents and other family members. Even the Gentiles, of that time, heard the word of God every Sabbath. (Acts 13:42) "And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath." (Acts 13:44) "And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God." In the Book of Ephesians Paul tells the Gentiles to take the whole armor of God, including the word of God. He was speaking about the Holy Scriptures of the Old Testament. (Ephesians 6:17) "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:" Why would he be telling them to use the word of God, as the sword of the Spirit, if they didn't know it? Here again, Paul is speaking of "Circumcision" and "the covenant of promise". (Ephesians 2:11-12) "Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:" How would they even know what "the covenant of promise" was or that Christ Jesus is the fulfillment of that promise? They must have been taught the Holy Scriptures at some time. In the Book of Galatians Paul is explaining, faith in our Lord Jesus, to the Gentiles by using Abraham as an example. (Galatians 3:8) "And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed." If the Gentiles knew nothing of the Holy Scriptures, why would he be using an example of Abraham, whom they would know nothing about? There was even one man named Apollos, that taught the things of the Lord without even knowing about the physical life of Jesus. He taught in the synagogue, the message of salvation using only the references to the Messiah in the Holy Scriptures. (Acts 18:24-26) "And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly." If Christians truly wish to know the will of God, the Oracles of God, that is, the Old Testament, must be taught, along with the New Testament, by every denomination. If it is not taught, these same churches are in danger of leading many of Gods' children away from eternal life. Individuals that follow these leaders, in a country that has as it's number one best seller, the Holy Bible, have no excuss themselves for not reading the whole word of God. The leaders of these churches and those individuals that have access to the Holy Bible, will someday be confronted by our Lord Jesus, (Matthew 7:23) "And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." (1 Peter 4:11) "If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion forever and ever.
