Service to the Saints(Psalms 16:2-3) "O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight." Lord Jesus sacrifice on the cross was for OUR benefit, and in doing so, He honored God the Father by doing His will. Christ Jesus devoted his entire life to the honor of God in the SERVICE to the saints. (John 17:19) "And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth." Our Holy Father and the Lord Jesus do not NEED anything nor anyone, more to exist, for they existed as one before anything was created. (Genesis 1:1) "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." (John 1:1) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." All that was created is God's, including everyone, both those who have since, chosen to do what is evil and those who have chosen to do what is right. So why were we created? For one reason and one reason only, TO LOVE. To love God and to love our neighbor. (Matthew 22:37-40) "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." God Almighty created man. And because He loves us so much, he has made a way for us to spend eternity with Him, to serve Him. The word "serve" means to worship and worship means to love. To serve, worship and love God is do His will. (John 6:38) "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me." He has also given all of mankind a choice, whether they want to serve and love Him or Satan, to live our life here on earth believing Satan's way or to believe and live our lives the Holy Father's way. All things come from God so how can we be of service to or whorship and love Him? What can we possible give to the Almighty God to express our love towards Him? (1 Chronicles 29:14) "But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee." Our God is a loving, peaceful, patient, merciful, faithful and giving God. Our Lord Jesus portrayed all of His Fathers good characteristics, while upon this earth, as an example for us. Jesus said, "I am the way." (John 14:6) "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Because we are now His, we are to follow His way. (John 17:24) "Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world." If we are the true followers of our Lord Jesus, we must, for his sake, extend our goodness, like He did, to those that are His, to the saints in the earth. What is done to the brethren, Jesus is pleased to take as done to Himself. (Matthew 25:40) "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." By nature we are very selfish. We are all born with the love of self. Jesus came to teach us what true, pure love is and how to show and express that love to others, both to God and to mankind. He said that all would recognize His disciples by the love that each one showed and expressed to each other. (John 13:35) "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." Keep in mind that Jesus was speaking about the few that are HIS DISCIPLES, not those whom use the name christians but do not keep the commandments of God. (Matthew 19:17) "And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." (Revelation 12:17) "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." (Revelation 14:12) "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." If today, the disciples of Christ Jesus do not continually practice loving one another, we will forget our calling as did those that came out of Egypt by Moses. (Hebrews 3:8) "Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:" Listed below are a few Scripture verses which shows that the Apostles of the early church were diligent in reminding the saints of the practice of loving one another.
(Romans 12:13) "Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality." (Galatians 5:13) "For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another." (Galatians 6:2) "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ." (Ephesians 4:32) "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." (Ephesians 5:21) "Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God." (Philippians 2:3) "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves." (1 Peter 4:9) "Use hospitality one to another without grudging." It is obvious that the "churches" of today that claim to represent our Lord Jesus have failed to live up to Jesus Commandment: (John 13:34) "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." Let us take this time to examine ourselves concerning our relationship and attitude towards our fellow disciples of Jesus Christ.
